Karcher G 3050 OH

The Karcher G3050 is a 3,000 psi, 2.5 gallons per minute gas powered pressure washer running on a Honda GC190 (187cc) motor. It sells for around $330, which is not that steep, considering this pressure washer is industrial grade, and can be used multiple times daily worrying about something breaking or overheating.

It is a popular model, the G3050, and a handful of users have attached short reviews with their purchase. Below is a summary of the best and most critical reviews for the Karcher G 3050.

Reviews

“I’ve used a number of pressure washers over the years—mostly the vertical coil engines that you find on the lower priced machines. But, since we’re talking price point, this is where this certified machine shines—the price is astounding! The ones you’ll see in your local Sunday paper from that store we all know are about $299. For about $30 more, you’re getting the Honda engine with horizontal coils, instead of the Briggs and Stratton. If you go to the CPO Karcher site, the unit is $20 more for the re-certified model. A new unit is pushing $500.” — Matt Patin, Pasadena

“This is a Power Washer that is heavy on the power. I will warn you to always start with the spray nozzle with the widest spray—otherwise you risk damaging whatever it is you plan on cleaning (this thing can peel of human skin). The motor starts 90% of the time on the first pull. It has a variety of nozzles to help control the power and width of the spray—the smaller the angle the more intense the water jet. As with customer service, I received a new part within 24 hours of giving my serial number. This thing is loud and powerful.” — Edward Charles, North Carolina

“I hesitated giving a review of this product until I was able to use it extensively on various surfaces. It has performed better than exceptional. I am very pleased with myself for purchasing this item. It outperforms pressure washers costing much more money. The Honda engine always starts in one or two easy pulls. Light, attractive and compact, it can be lifted into my pickup and stored in the garage. It is easily maneuvered on air-filled tires and stays put while spraying because it rests on an over-sized rubber grommet at the rear. I am so impressed with this little marvel, it never gets put away without a complete wipe down until it shines like new again.” — Terry Warden, Michigan

The Makita BTP140 is an 18-volt Lithium-ion cordless multi-function drill kit. It can moonlight as a hammer, impact and driver, and can drill into wood, metal and concrete. Its LXT Lithium-ion batteries with its smart charging system claims up to 280% increase in lifetime, twice more charging cycles and five times lower self-discharge.

Its 4-pole motor can deliver a maximum of 1,240″ lbs. It has a very compact design at only 7 3/8″ in length and weighs in at only 3.9 lbs. A DeWalt equivalent however, like the DeWalt DC827 has a relatively smaller head.

All of these multi-function drill kits do the job but we reckon that the BTP140′s selling point is its charging system. Basically what Makita has done is place a computer chip inside the batter that lets the charger know exactly hot to optimally charge the batteries, and to fully charge each cell within the batter while extending the maximum battery life.

Normally, a battery that is comprised of internal cells will drain at different rates on use, and a normal charger stops charging when one of these cells reach its maximum capacity, leaving the other cells not fully charged. What Makita claims is that their “smart charger” charges each cell independently so you get a full 18 volts everytime you use the drill.

The result? A battery that lats 280% more and can be charged over 1,400 times compared to the conventional ones’ 600-800 times. This is what (in theory) justifies the higher price tag (retail of $599.00). To someone who is always on the go, like a for hire handyman, leaving the charger at home for light duty fixes can be very convenient.

But that’s about as critical as we can get with this tool. Oh by the way, a place to store driver and drill bits on the drill itself would be nice. So all in all, a great all-in-one tool that is worth the higher price tag because of the technology it has in its batteries.

The BTP140 is quite advanced compared to other cordless drivers as it gives more power and speed in a lighter and more compact package. There is also a built-in LED light, which we found adequately bright, that helps illuminate dark areas.

We found some instances where we feel the BTP140 lacks torque. For example, a 2-inch screw that an ancient DeWalt 14-volt cordless drives with ease through soft wood, was a tough obstacle for the BTP140 in its driver setting. But as a drill we’ve tried it through concrete and it bore with ease. It is also not advisable to use its drill setting on screws because it will easily snap screw heads.

Infinity NV29, NV30 & NV31 Upright Vacuum Cleaner by Euro-Pro

The three models above are basically the same. Although our test unit was the NV29, in principle you could base this review if you are planning to buy the NV30 or the NV 31. For differences between the three, visit Euro-Pro’s website.

The NV29′s suction is incredible and we could not believe the amount of dirt it picks up from carpets. But, although it is an excellent vacuum, there are some abysmal design flaws.

One major flaw is in the cycloes. The dirt that gets trapped in the cyclones is not easy to get out. And, you do not want to pour water over them because it will just make things worse.

We recommend washing the cyclones after every use. Take a garden hose and using mild pressure, run water behind it up and around the hole—this will force dirt to be flushed back opposite the way they came in. A clean cyclone would restore the suction power.

This vacuum is a lot cheaper than other brands such as Dyson, so these minor flaws make the Euro-Pro Infinity NV29 quite a good buy.

People over @ Amazon.com are saying the same things and more so do check them out if you want more reviews.

Kärcher K5 series pressure washer

So far we have seen at least 3 variants of the Karcher K 5.85 model namely, the K 5.85 M, K 5.85 MR and the K 5.85 MD plus. The K 5.85 from Kärcher is built to last. Made with an extra durable pump borrowed from Karcher’s professional line of pressure washers, this unit can withstand the rigorous demands of frequent use and delivers an amazing 1850 PSI, more than 37 times as much pressure as a typical garden hose. Equipped with two spray wands—the DirtBlaster and the Vario Power Spray, the K 5.85 M is able to tackle any cleaning project around the home. It comes with an onboard detergent tank that makes detergent application a snap.

What people are saying

I have owned a few Karchers. My old unit broke during some deck cleaning – it was probably about 5 years old. I ended up ordering an FAIP because there were several good reviews on it. I quickly regretted buying the FAIP PWS1750 unit.

I promptly returned the unit and bought the Karcher K 5.85. It is considerably more money, but I believe it is worth it. It exudes much better quality in many ways over the FAIP. The high pressure hose reel is a great feature – this is the feature that sold me. Unlike the FAIP PWS1750, the hose stays connected when you reel or un-reel the hose – it makes it very easy to put away.

The optional T-racer surface cleaner attachment is much better than the FAIP’s ultra cheap PowerWash Broom.

It is on the high end for an electic power washer price wise, but also quality wise. You know the old saying; you get what you pay for. This unit is made in Germany whereas the FAIP is made in China.

This is my 3rd Karcher; the only weakness of most Karchers is the garden hose connection. It is not very robust and can break off if you don’t take it easy – I don’t know why they have not beefed that up over the years.

This is a pretty good product. Make sure your water pipe input is steady otherwise the engine will cut automatically. This one has a slightly longer hose and power than other models and I would definitely not recommend taking a shorter hose or a less powerful pressure washer. I washed the car but needed the brushes to really get rid of the dirt marks. The dirt blaster is pretty good to wash the house, deck and windows.

I have had this for about a month now and it works great. I bought this Karchner electric washer to replace a Campbell Hausfeld gas washer that died. This washer is so much better than the gas one. The CH gas model was more powerful but I didn’t need that power anyway. So far I have cleaned the brick/slate walkway and refinished my deck. In both instances the Karcher performed admirably. I highly recommend this unit to Joe Homeowner for common cleaning tasks.
